Baba Cutlery Works founded in Sakai City, Osaka, 98 years ago. They continue to employ ancient production processes to manufacture kitchen knives with new value and designs to match the current lifestyle. They manufacture knives ranging from those for personal use to those used by professional chefs. Our knives are handcrafted to the smallest detail, including form, thickness, and weight. They were an early adopter of "structural testing" of the blades, which they did not previously do. They are constantly investigating temperature management and forging processes to enhance the material's performance by rigorously evaluating the steel material used in the knives.
Knife Series "Urushi Kagekiyo" (Gold Dust Lacquer Handle)
High-quality stainless steel Japanese kitchen knives result from the cooperation of high-quality materials, master craftsmen's abilities, and material producers. These high-quality stainless steel knives are forged and sharpened by Sakai's talented master artisans. To make visually attractive and excellent performing blades, the surface of the knives and the backside and "Machi" are painstakingly polished utilizing the "mirror finish" process. Because high-grade stainless steel forging is challenging for Sakai knife manufacturers, the number of knives manufactured utilizing the technology is currently limited.
