Hokiyama Cutlery (Hokiyama Knife) is the leading cutlery brand in the Japan Tosa region. Hokiyama Knife is a company with a tradition, technology, and spirit that was inherited more than 800 years ago from Katana sword making and continues to improve today through the development of new technologies and continuing to challenge new innovative materials and new manufacturing methods (Multi-layered Damascus steel plate by the combination of mechanical rolling method & traditional hand forging).
The region Tosa’s cutlery has a history of 800 years as a traditional industry originating from Japanese swordsmithing. Here were manufactured various kitchen knives and agricultural, forestry, and gardening tools, and the products that have been forged and heat-treated by traditional techniques are highly trusted for their durability and sharpness.
After many years of quality evaluation, in 2007, "Tosa Uchihamono" (Tosa’s hand-forged cutlery and tools) was certified as a Brand of the Region by the Japan Patent Office (like a cutlery quality mark).
Hokiyama cutlery was founded in 1919 by first president Mr.Tokie Hokiyama as the main representative manufacturer of Tosa’s cutlery region.
