VG10 Steel
From the beginning, VG 10 has been specially designed for the Japanese knife industry. Later, this steel became so successful in Japan that, in addition to the main Japanese knife manufacturers, other international giants of the knife industry began to use it. Among the most famous companies using the VG 10 steel: Spyderco, Cold Steel, Camillus, Browning, Fallkniven, SOG, and many others, also many private knife designers around the world. Today, VG 10 steel is one of the most popular knife steels on the market.
VG 10 steel has a high toughness, which allows it to be hardened up to 60-61 HRC without any problem. Excellent edge retention, very good corrosion resistance, easy to sharpen.
VG 10 steel composition: Carbon (C) - 0,95-1,05%; Chromium (Cr) - 14,50-15,50; Molybdenum (Mo) - 0,90-1,20%; Vanadium (V) - 0,10-0,30%; Cobalt (Co) - 1,30-1,50%.
In terms of its composition, VG 10 occupies an intermediate position between another popular Japanese ATS-34 and ATS-55 steel.
